About us

We the membership of the Port Lorne and District Volunteer Fire Department welcome you to our website. Located just over the North Mountain along the shores of the Bay of Fundy. Here you will find the fishing village of Port Lorne and our Department located at 532 Port Lorne Road. Founded in October 1976 with an beginning membership of 14.  Was originally formed to help reduce the response time from  other departments located in the Annapolis Valley  providing a better opportunity to save both life and property.

Beginning with only a 1957 FWD pumper purchased from the shipyards of the city of Halifax to todays’ modern fleet of a 2007 pumper, 2012 tanker, and a 2018 rescue unit. The PLVFD strongly encourages and is involved with fire/emergency protection, prevention, and education both within its boundaries and abroad. Covering the communities of Port Lorne, St. Croix Cove, Mount Rose, Outram, and a portion of Cottage Cove/Cape and Sand Beach, the PLVFD contributes to the network of emergency protection for its citizens as well as aiding other departments in the Annapolis Valley should call for assistance come its way. With the changing of time comes changes we must incorporate into our own lives, the PLVFD commits itself  to keeping with the times and trying our very best to help and aid to all who are facing an emergency.
